First Bird Festival

Pronatura Noroeste organized the First Bird Festival in the town of Guerrero Negro, BCS as a joint effort in which El Vizcaino Biosphere Reserve, the Valle de los Cirios Area for the Protection of Flora and Fauna, and the company Exportadora de Sal, S.A. de C.V. also participated. The festival’s motto was “El Vizcaino Biosphere Reserve: A Refuge for Birds” and its purpose was to create awareness of the importance of the wetlands in the region as stop-over habitat and refuge for more than 140 species of migratory and resident birds, as well as to encourage the appreciation and conservation of birds and their habitat. More than 700 participants from local schools, ejidos, and the general public attended this festival.
