In response to the problem of plastics polluting the sea and beaches, the ejido Luis Echeverría Álvarez sets-up cleaning and education activities at Laguna San Ignacio. This community of a little more than 300 inhabitants has been busy with adequate management of generated waste, cleaning days, delimiting a garbage dump and a recycling area, and acquiring a compactor and an incinerator. However, the community’s most serious problem is plastic bags because the wind blows them towards the vegetation and the sea.

To support the efforts of the ejido, and with the aim of eradicating the use of these bags in the medium term, we developed the campaign "For a Sea Free of Plastics", which includes distribution of a collectable children's stamp album with stamps of the nature in the region and promotion of the use of reusable cloth bags.

The initiative hopes that children, through positive reinforcement, will motivate their parents to eliminate the use of plastic bags, thereby benefiting nature and the town’s inhabitants. This initiative sets a precedent regarding the importance of collaboration between the community and our team. "For a Sea Free of Plastics" is a project ripe for reproduction in other communities.
