Through this initiative, we aim to mobilize donations, strategic partnerships, and community engagement to raise MXN 2 million in support of conservation efforts for jaguars, sea turtles, corals, and Belding’s yellowthroat across northwestern Mexico

What do the jaguar, sea turtles, corals, and the Belding’s yellowthroat have in common?

Although these species are very different, they all play a vital role in maintaining the natural balance that sustains life. And that balance depends on all of us.

Healthy jaguar populations reflect healthy ecosystems. Sea turtles connect beaches and oceans through their nesting cycles. Corals support an extraordinary diversity of marine life. Belding’s yellowthroat highlights the ecological importance of oases and desert wetlands. Protecting these species also means safeguarding the ecosystems that keep life thriving.

Guided by this commitment, Pronatura Noroeste launched LATIDO, an initiative designed to bring together funding, partnerships, and community engagement in support of these four priority conservation species in northwestern Mexico.

LATIDO brings conservation closer to people through a simple but powerful message: protecting a species also means protecting the ecosystems that make life possible.

An initiative that turns awareness into action

For years, conservation efforts have helped more people understand why protecting nature matters. That awareness has the greatest impact when it leads to participation, investment, and meaningful action.

LATIDO was created to drive that next step by transforming environmental concern into direct support for on-the-ground conservation projects.

Every donation strengthens Pronatura Noroeste’s work to protect priority species and the ecosystems they depend on, including oceans, beaches, coral reefs, forests, wetlands, oases, and native vegetation.

That work is already underway across the region. We monitor jaguars using camera traps in Nayarit; protect sea turtle nests and release hatchlings along the beaches of northwestern Mexico; restore coral reefs and monitor their health; and conserve Belding’s yellowthroat populations in the oases of Baja California Sur.

LATIDO seeks to build on this experience through increased funding, stronger partnerships, and broader community engagement.

One shared goal for four priority species

The goal of this first phase is to raise MXN $2 million by March 2027MXN $500,000 for each of the four priority species supported by the fund.

To achieve this, LATIDO will activate individual and corporate donations, strategic partnerships, species sponsorships, and a network of ambassadors to expand the initiative’s reach among new communities, companies, and sectors.

Everyone who gets involved makes a difference. A donation helps sustain essential fieldwork. A partnership expands our capacity to act. An ambassador can inspire new conversations and connect more people with the cause.

Conserving nature also means protecting our future

Conservation is about more than preventing species loss. It also safeguards the natural systems that provide water, food, ecological balance, regional identity, and well-being for millions of people.

When a species is protected, the ecosystem that supports it is protected as well. And when those ecosystems remain healthy, communities are better equipped to face today’s and tomorrow’s environmental challenges.

Through LATIDO, Pronatura Noroeste invites individuals, companies, and organizations to become part of a collective effort to protect the biodiversity of northwestern Mexico.

Every contribution strengthens conservation efforts. Every partnership expands our impact. Every person who joins helps keep this effort alive.

Get involved. Donate. Keep the LATIDO alive.
