Caring for the Pacific Red Knot and the Gulf Grunion
During the time of Easter holydays, the Pejerreinas – a group of women from the Gulf – and Pronatura Noroeste installed a n information stand on the beach of the Gulf of Santa Clara to share information about the spawning of the Gulf Grunion and the migration of shorebirds like the Pacific Red Knot with the community and tourists.

Bahia de Lobos: The 19th WHSRN site in Mexico
On November 9, 2018 the Western Hemisphere Shorebird Reserve Network (WHSRN) designated Bahia de Lobos as a site of regional importance. The bay located on the coast of Sonora is one of the places where the Bird Laboratory of the Autonomous University of Baja California Sur (UABCS) and Pronatura Noroeste conduct studies and conservation activities.

The northwest of Mexico is part of one of three migratory corridors, the Pacific corridor, in the American continent. It is considered one of the most important regions for shorebirds, receiving more than one million each winter.

600 hectares restored in Laguna Babicora
The Bird Conservation program conducts protection and habitat management activities in Laguna Babicora de Chihuahua. Known as the land of cranes and geese, Babicora is one of the most important sites of the central migratory route. In it can be found migratory waterfowl, such as the Sandhill Crane, the Snow Goose , and Ross’s goose, as well as a variety of ducks and shorebirds.

900 hectares of Laguna Babicora protected in Chihuahua
Ejido Gomez Farias and Pronatura Noroeste A.C. signed a Conservation Contract for 20 years to protect 900 hectares of Laguna Babícora in Chihuahua, one of the most important sites used by waterfowl in the central migratory route.

Awards to individuals and organizations working for the conservation of biodiversity
Pronatura Noroeste received the Ecological Merit Award 2016 in the framework of the Conference of Parties (COP 13), on the Agreement on Biological Diversity, in the city of Cancun, Quintana Roo. The ceremony, held Sunday December 4 2016 at the International Convention Center in Cancun, was chaired by Rafael Pacciano Alamán, Secretary of Environment and Natural Resources (Semarnat).
