We celebrate the International Day for Girls and Women in Science by celebrating the work of all those who promote the development of communities in harmony with nature. They are the ones who draw up conservation strategies that are implemented throughout our territory; who talk closely with fishermen and together establish guidelines to achieve sustainable fishing; who are part of the water diplomacy that guarantees the volume of the vital liquid required by the ecosystems in the Colorado River delta; who, with creativity and enthusiasm, apply all their knowledge about conservation and turn it into educational pieces that become the key to changing the mentality of the new generations.

At Pronatura Noroeste we are proud to have highly trained and specialized women scientists, who leave a distinctive stamp reflected in our results. Each one of them, in their own field, has a decisive influence on the strategies aimed at achieving our conservation objectives in northwestern Mexico.

Daniela López, biologist and Operations Director at Pronatura Noroeste, comments: “To have a team of scientists promoting the search for answers to everything is incredible. Our participation has a direct impact on the organization’s results, as all the conservation strategies in which Pronatura Noroeste gets involved are based on scientific data”.

Pronatura Noroeste currently has 18 women scientists, several of them with masters and doctoral degrees from leading universities in Mexico.

We are well aware that the work of our female colleagues has a direct impact on the new generations of scientists who are preparing or dreaming of a future in which they can contribute to change. We want to increase this influence, to spread the word that there are women who continue to open spaces and create conditions that promote equality and greater respect for women in the workplace.

We celebrate all the tireless scientists who dedicate themselves to finding ways to generate a common good. The scientists of Pronatura Noroeste will do their part to protect the flora and fauna, the largest number of priority ecosystems in this privileged region, and to push towards a balance between communities and their natural environment.

Every action adds up to the conservation of the ecosystems of Northwest Mexico. Be part of this great conservation story.
