On October 14 and 15, the first Revive the Colorado River/Rise The River Festival will be held where we will learn how science, policy and joint efforts are working to restore the Colorado River.
The Revive the Colorado River Alliance is a unique partnership of six non-governmental organizations from Mexico and the United States working to revive the Colorado River Delta through activities that support environmental restoration for the benefit of the people and the enhancement of wildlife in the Delta.
They include: The Nature Conservancy, National Audubon Society, Redford Center, Restauremos El Colorado, Sonoran Institute and Pronatura Noroeste. The alliance has worked since 2012 with policy makers, water management agencies and government representatives from Mexico and the U.S. to cooperatively create historic change for the Colorado River Delta.
As part of this festival, on October 14, we will have the participation of Stefany Villagomez, Biological Monitoring Coordinator, Colorado River Delta, Pronatura Noroeste, who will talk about how science and management efforts are fundamental to the successful work of Delta restoration and bird monitoring.
On October 15th we will have Yuli Dimas, Community Involvement Coordinator for the Colorado River Delta region, who will present an animation of the source of the Colorado River from the United States and its journey to Mexico, as well as the efforts of both countries and the Revive the Colorado River Alliance to restore the ecosystem.
