Candelero Americano o Monjita

Did you know?

Did you know that the aquatic birds population rely on the conservation of the mangroves where they live in? Some species use these ecosystems for breeding and as a permanent home, like Candelero Americano or Monjita (see photo) lives in fresh water and salt marshes, and the Ostrero Negro lives in the Pacific Coast of Baja California’s peninsula. Other species, like the Ganso De Ross, breed on the Canadian Artic and spend winter on the mangroves of our region. Photographs: © Osvel Hinojosa Huerta
