During Forum Summit 2024: Cities with Future. No fear of action, Sea of Cortez Forum and Pronatura Noroeste signed a strategic agreement to strengthen the ecosystem, biodiversity and the communities in the Sea of Cortez region.
The agreement was signed by José Antonio Díaz Quintanar & Gustavo Danemann, President, and Director of Pronatura Noroeste, respectively, and Radamés Díaz Meza & Juan Pablo Yamuni Robles, Executive President and General Director of the Sea of Cortez Forum. Alejandro Robles, Director of NOS Noroeste Sustentable, function as honorary witness.
This agreement searches to establish an effective collaboration between both organizations. This will allow the implementation of different activities such as trainings, workshops, conferences, symposiums, and cultural and recreational events. Additionally, the agreement promotes visits and of professional residencies, as well as social service activities.
The main objective is to share human, technical and economic resources to promote projects and initiatives aimed to follow a sustainable development and the conservation of natural areas in Baja California, Baja California Sur, Nayarit, Sinaloa and Sonora.
Also, the agreement will allow the generation of ideas and actions that not only will protect and restore natural habitats, but also will promote economic development and social inclusion of local communities surrounding the Sea of Cortez region.
“This join effort means an opportunity to catalyze public policies, promote research and strengthen local communities with the purpose of preserving the natural capital of our ecosystems”, agreed the signatories during the ceremony.
Both Sea of Cortez Forum, and Pronatura Noroeste recognize the importance of this agreement as a milestone towards coordinated and effective actions to face environmental and social challenges in the region.
With this agreement, both organizations consolidate their commitment to build a more sustainable future for the Sea of Cortez region, a natural treasure hosting a unique and rich biodiversity and culture.
