With the objective of protecting Navolato’s priority ecosystems, in a significant act for the municipality’s environmental future, Municipal President Francisco Castro López received the Local Ecological Ordinance Program from the coordinator of Pronatura Noroeste in Sinaloa, Juan Carlos Leyva Martínez. This document was prepared in collaboration with the Directorate of Urban Planning and Environmental Management, headed by Cristian Díaz Sánchez, as part of an agreement involving the participation of SEMARNAT and the Sinaloa State Government’s Welfare Secretariat.
With this ordinance, Pronatura Noroeste is leading efforts to regulate land use and productive activities in the Sinaloa municipality, with the aim of guaranteeing environmental protection and the sustainable use of its natural resources.
The Local Ecological Management Program is presented as a fundamental tool for the environmental management of Navolato, Sinaloa, and is structured in the following stages: characterization, diagnosis, prognosis and proposal, each designed to ensure the sustainable development of the region.
During the elaboration process, social participation workshops were held, addressing essential aspects such as history, culture and community organization; human settlements; environmental elements; and economic-productive activities. These workshops were documented by means of minutes, notices, attendance lists, reports, and audiovisual and photographic annexes, which constitute the means of verification delivered together with the program.
Accompanying the Municipal President, Francisco Castro López, were the Secretary of the City Council, Víctor Manuel Rivera Rocha; the Director of Urban Planning and Environmental Management, Cristian Yarely Díaz Sánchez, Claudia Garibaldi, Mayrem Esperano Chaidez and, on behalf of Pronatura Noroeste, Alejandra Montreal Martínez.
