Pronatura Noroeste’s sustainable fishing team visited fishing camps that harvest snook in the Marismas Nacionales Biosphere Reserve, Nayarit.

They have been working with them since 2009, the beginning of the Fisheries Improvement Program was agreed with four fishing cooperatives from Boca de Camichin, Laureles and San Blas, the Nayarit Federation of Riverine Fisheries, the Regional Fisheries Research Center, Cruz de Huanacaxtle, the National Commission of Natural Protected Areas, the State Government and the State Committee of Aquaculture Health of the State of Nayarit, A. C.

In addition, during this visit, SmartFish staff began a survey to evaluate opportunities to strengthen the fishery and its possible access to markets that value sustainability. With this, we continue to make alliances with the fishing sector committed to sustainable development.
