The Colorado River rises in the Rocky Mountains in the United States and reaches the Gulf of California in Mexico. It is one of the most iconic and important rivers in the world due to the binational work around the basin.

At Pronatura Noroeste, we have been working for more than two decades on the Colorado River Delta restoration initiative. Today, thanks to diplomacy efforts, conservation actions, and community involvement programs, there is water for the environment and an oasis in the desert that provides clean air to cities on both sides of the border, a space that provides shelter for hundreds of thousands of migratory shorebirds.

The Miguel Aleman restoration site is an example of this effort, a place that was transformed into an oasis of 170 hectares, now provides clean air, a refuge for wildlife, and also a recreational space for families.
