Get to know the project in which ARCA Continental, Coca Cola de México and Industria Mexicana de Coca Cola have invested 48 million pesos, this project counts with technical support from Pronatura México and Pronatura Noroeste.

Mexicali, Baja California._ This new artificial wetland was inaugurated in Guadalupe Victoria with the purpose of strengthening the hydric security of the region by the sustainable management of resources. This project was financed by ARCA Continental, Coca Cola de México and Industria Mexicana de Coca Cola and, from beginning to end, it counted with the technical support from Pronatura Noroeste and Pronatura México.

Jorge Humberto Santos Reyna, President of the Board of Directors of ARCA
Continental, commented that the artificial wetland will have the capacity to process
up to 70 liters of water per second and will benefit more than 28,000 inhabitants of
the Mexicali valley. This project, which started operations on December 2nd, had an
investment of 48 million pesos.

“The construction of this wetland is one of its kind, as it treats reclaimed water
through nature-based processes, using substrate and plants that, as a whole, form
phyto-purifiers, meaning plants that clean the water, which reduces maintenance
costs and allows for a long-term sustainability,” he explained.

He emphasized that this project was only possible thanks to the alliance between
the authorities of the State Government, the State Public Services Commission of
Mexicali (CESPM), the Municipality of Mexicali, and the leadership of Pronatura
Mexico and Pronatura Noroeste, in the implementation of this system.

The artificial wetland, which is next to a CESPM treatment plant, was handed over
by ARCA Continental to the State Government, for which the Governor, Marina del
Pilar Ávila Olmeda, expressed her gratitude.
