The signing of this agreement will afford to push forward joint actions of conversations, environmental justice, and defend fundamental rights in Baja California.
Here at Pronatura Noroeste we believe that protecting nature is also means protecting people, that’s why, on January 13, 2026 we signed the collaboration agreement with the State Commission for Human Rights of Baja California (CEDHBC), with the goal to push forward joint actions in favor of human rights to a healthy environment.
On behalf of the CEDHBC, their president, Jorge Álvaro Ochoa, and the executive clerk,
Ixchelt Barboza Romero signed the agreement. By Pronatura Noroeste (PNO) signed the agreement Gustavo D. Danemann, Executive Manager, and Valeria S. Towns, Head of Conservation. Carry out the signing, also participate as witness Laura Ibarra García, Sustainable Fishing Coordinator, and Daniela López, Head of Operations, as well as CEDHBC workers.
This agreement strengthens the human rights standpoint in our conservation projects,
recognizing that the guard of the natural environment is directly linked with fundamental rights as an access to a healthy environment and a respectable life.
From this collaboration, we will push forward diffusion actions, raise awareness and
strengthen a culture of human rights in territories where we work.
This includes trainings given by CEDHBC to communities, organizations and local actors, just as joint development of IT material and promotion of good practices between business and productive sectors, with points in the obtaining of emblems of Business that Respect the Human Rights.
The agreement came into force upon and will remain in force until September 18, 2027.
