Pronatura Noroeste (PNO) has been distinguished by the Centro Mexicano para la Filantropía A.C. (Cemefi) by obtaining the optimum level in its Accreditation in Institutionalism and Transparency (AIT) for 2021. This accreditation is a seal of quality awarded annually to organizations that meet high standards of planning, internal management and transparency mechanisms.
In this way, PNO demonstrates its institutional strength and operational clarity in favor of the region’s ecosystems and species, within a framework of accountability. By receiving the AIT 2021, Pronatura Noroeste strengthens the trust of its allies, investors and donors, thus endorsing its commitment to the local communities to continue monitoring and preserving the natural protected areas in this region.
PNO is the oldest environmental organization in northwest Mexico and has been working for 30 years to conserve flora, fauna and the environment in a region of great natural wealth and biodiversity, home to almost 15 million people. It has offices in five of Mexico’s northwestern states. This unique characteristic has allowed PNO to not only get a pulse of the region’s varying place-based needs and challenges, but has also facilitated conservation approaches that can have an impact at a regional scale.
Cemefi is a civil association founded in December 1988. Its mission is to promote and articulate the philanthropic, committed and socially responsible participation of citizens, social organizations and businesses in order to move towards an equitable, caring and prosperous society.
